Carlos Peinador Veira

Carlos Peinador

Carlos Peinador studied chemistry at Universidade of Santiago de Compostela and received his Ph.D. degree from the Universidade da Coruña (UDC) working on heterocyclic compounds with pharmacological interest under the supervision of Prof. Quintela. After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Miami (Prof. A. E. Kaifer) working on cavitands and supramolecular chemistry, he returned to the UDC as Assistant Professor. In 2002 he was promoted to Associate Professor and in 2018 to Full Professor. His current research interests are oriented towards the field of Supramolecular Chemistry, with a particular focus on the use of bipyridinium-based cations for the self-assembly of catenanes and inclusion complexes and their implementation into stimuli-responsive supramolecular systems. He is the author of more than 130 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, written several reviews and book chapters.

Marcos D. García

Marcos D. García studied Chemistry at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, where he completed his Ph.D. in 2005 under the supervision of Prof. F. Fernández and Prof. O. Caamaño. After post-doctoral studies at the University of Leicester with Prof. Paul R. Jenkins, in 2007 he moved back to Spain, joining the Universidade da Coruña as Isidro Parga Pondal Fellow. Marcos currently holds a position at the UDC as Associate Professor, focusing his research interests on the field of molecular self-assembly, trying to find new ways to make heterocyclic compounds obey his will.

Arturo Blanco

Arturo Blanco-Gómez finished his degree in Chemistry at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC) in 2015. In the same year he joined the research group of Carlos Peinador and Marcos D. García completing his master degree in 2016. He has performed a short research stay at the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), under the supervision of Prof. C. A. Schalley, working on the application of mass spectrometry within the field of supramolecular chemistry. He finished his Ph.D. studies at the department of Chemistry at UDC, on the design and study of stimuli-responsive pyridinium-based macrocyclic hosts.

Iago Neira

Dr. Iago Neira studied Chemistry at Universidade da Coruña. After completing his master's degree, in 2015 he joined the research group of Carlos Peinador and Marcos D. García, where he completed his Ph.D. In 2018, he spent 3 months doing a research stay at the University of Miami under the supervision of Prof. A. E. Kaifer on the chemistry of cucurbiturils. He worked in 2019 with Prof. Marco Lucarini at the Università di Bologna on supramolecular radicals, and he also joined Trinity University (USA) in 2020 for a short period supervised by Prof. Adam Urbach on the chemistry of peptides. His Ph.D. research focused on the supramolecular stimuli-responsive host-guest chemistry of cucurbiturils, and the self-assembly of catenanes and rotaxanes. He currently works as Responsable Técnico de Análise de Bebidas at the Laboratorio Agrario e Fitopatolóxico de Galicia.
